What's new in garden this month...

Helleborus Ivory Prince

A recent release hellebore which is terrific planted under trees or in a pot in your courtyard. It's drought tolerant, frost hardy and easy to grow. The difference with Ivory Prince is that its masses of flowers sit up for everyone to see, it is truly a winner.

Hellebores are a great way to fill semi-shaded spots in the garden. Plant singular plants or plant in drifts to create a woodland garden setting. Hellebores are available in both single and double flower forms and in colours ranging from white, yellow, pink to dark purple.  Many varieties have the distinctive spots on the petals and the pendulous flowers.

In the right conditions they are long lived plants and once established tolerate dry periods though they prefer moist conditions. The hardy Hellebores require little in the way of care and will tolerate a high level of neglect. For the most part you can simply plant and forget this shade loving beauty. They flower in winter when flowers are few and far between in the garden and are a valuable addition adding interest and colour.
